Orthodontics

 What is an Orthodontic Treatment?

Orthodontics is one of the major branches of dentistry. It started out to be a cosmetic branch, but its boundaries have been expanded to its current status. An orthodontist offers knowledge, treatment plans and techniques his / her specialty brings to fix teeth and jaws.

How Long Does an Orthodontic Treatment Take?
Orthodontic treatments are long-term treatments and vary from level to level, and the overall time depends on the severity of the anomaly. While some malocclusion cases can be treated with a single-phase treatment, some of these may require two or three phases. A good outcome depends on the work between the patient, the patient’s family, the family dentist and the orthodontist. An orthodontist offers knowledge, treatment plans and techniques his/her specialty brings to fix teeth and jaws.

Orthodontic Treatment on Adults?
The progressing technology allows for patients who could not receive an orthodontic treatment when they were children to be treated. Smiling with their own proper teeth makes people happier. As a matter of fact, dental treatments may be applied at any age as long as the teeth and the perodontium are healthy. However anomalies in jaw bones can only be treated with an operation in at later ages.

Time to Go to an Orthodontist
There’s no need to worry about the position of the first teeth (also called milk teeth) in babies. The space between these teeth is a sign of natural development. A firm contact between milk teeth as in the teeth of an adult’s might mean lack of space for the teeth at later ages and thus may cause crooked teeth. Permanent teeth start to erupt at ages between 6 – 7, but not much of a problem occurs until incisors start to erupt at ages between 7 – 9.

At Kusadasi Lotus Dental Clinic the expert dentists apply orthodontic treatments.
